Vanessa Guignery

Vanessa Guignery is Professor of Contemporary English Literature and Postcolonial Literature at the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon and a member of the Institut Universitaire de France. She is the author of several books and essays on the work of Julian Barnes, as well as a monograph on Ben Okri's The Famished Road and on B.S. Johnson. She translated Jonathan Coe's biography of B.S. Johnson, Like a Fiery Elephant, into French (Quidam, 2010) and is the editor of several collections of essays on contemporary English and postcolonial literature. Her monograph on Jonathan Coe for the New British Fiction Series of Palgrave Macmillan will appear in 2016. Vanessa Guignery has been a Fellow and University Affiliate at the Harry Ransom Humanities Centre in Austin, Texas on several occasions since 2006 and was an invited Professor at the Department of English at the University of Texas in Austin in the Spring 2011.
