Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. The Polo shirt is to Ralph Lauren what Mickey Mouse is to Disney or the Empire State Building is to New York City. Whether worn with the collar popped up, open and untucked, or dressed up under a suit jacket, the Polo embodies the optimism of American style. In Laurens words, 'Its honest and from the heart and hopefully that is what touches the diversity of all who wear it. It was never about a shirt, but a way of living.'Featuring a gallery of stars from the worlds of sports, politics, film, and music from Leonardo DiCaprio and Spike Lee, to Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey, to Pharrell Williams and Venus Williams as well as everyday people who make the Polo their canvas for self-expression, The Polo Shirt looks at the enduring cool of a wardrobe classic.Included are the full range of colours, styles, and fits the shirt has been produced in during its more than 50 year history. From the classic white to the weathered Polo, from the striped Polo to the US Olympic, US Open, and Wimbledon Championship collaborations, this catalogue celebrates the full spectrum of the Polo, making it a collectors dream. Embodying a chic casualness and ease that is uniquely American, the iconic Polo shirt has become a cool cultural symbol, worn by everyone from movie stars and presidents to athletes and artists. Hardcover. Gray casebound book. There is a dust jacket with the title in white down a pinkish spine. Pages: (4), 5-219, (1). Profusely illustrated with both color and black-and-white images. "In Sheila Metzner's photographs, beauty is truly more than skin-deep. She is known for creating rich and refined images for the fashion and television industries, and her textural surfaces and attention to aesthetics have made her work popular since the 1970s with clients as diverse as Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, and Victoria's Secret. Recasting history for her own demands, Metzner hovers between the pictorialist aesthetic of Alfred Stieglitz or Edward Steichen and the modernist edge of such photographers as Man Ray and Charles Sheeler. The end results, while paying homage, are uniquely Metzner's own and have left a major impression on the history of photography. The transcendent quality of many of Metzner's photographs is enhanced by a printing process invented by the Fresson family in 1895 and still practiced in the family's atelier outside of Paris. Creating using the Fresson process-a painterly approach known as process de charbon that incorporates up to seven pigment colors-many of the images presented here reveal a tonal range and color saturation that is ethereal and magical. Metzner is one of just ten American photographers with whom the Atelier Fresson is willing to work, and Form and Fashion artfully presents some of the results of this creative collaboration. These images, as well as Metzner's work in Polaroid and gelatin silver, show an artist in constant quest for the ideal forms of beauty. Form and Fashion presents a generous commingling of Metzner's fashion work with her sensual and erotic nudes and formalist still lifes created between 1980 and 2000. The effect of this retrospective juxtaposition suggests a heady romanticism balanced by her precisionist style and sense of detail. For the very first time, Form and Fashion presents the singularity of Metzner's creative mind, showcasing images that resound on their own terms with elegance and distinction." VG/VG: Exlibrary book. Sticker on dust jacket at the base of the spine. Stamp on front free end page. Sticker and due date card on back pasted end page. Stamp on top text block.…

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. A fashion icon in her own right, Keaton amusingly revisits and reflects on some of her favorite and not-so-favorite fashion moments over the decades, from childhood homemade outfits to red carpet ensembles and street style experiments she tried from the 1960s until today.Since she could remember, Keaton has been fascinated by clothing and style. As a little girl, she would pick out patterns and request that her mother make her custom outfits. This was the beginning of a love affair with clothes and looks, and sometimes, fashion. From the outset of her acting career in the 1970s, the legendary star has experimented and thought outside the lines of what a Hollywood icon should wear and still became lauded as a style icon by Vogue, W, The Hollywood Reporter, and countless fashion websites. Keatons style is at once timeless, experimental, bold, effortless, androgynous, quirky, and utterly and distinctly her own. This is the celebrated film stars ode to her unforgettable fashion moments examined through Keatons self-deprecating, charming voice, as she comments on her favorite looks and her biggest fashion faux pas. Images includes photos of a young Keaton sporting her mothers homemade ensembles, stylish snapshots from the 1960s and iconic 1970s looks highlighting her signature Annie Hall style, red carpet moments, magazine editorials, street-style shots, and selfies from the 1980s until present day. Striking fashion photographs by renowned photographers such as Annie Leibovitz, Ruven Afanador, and Ron Gallela are accompanied by anecdotes about Keatons inspiring style from her longtime friends, collaborators, and fashion designers, including Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kris Jenner, Nancy Myers, Blake Lively, and Thom Browne. Truly entertaining and stylish, this is the book fashion lovers and fans of the inimitable actor have been waiting for. A fashion icon in her own right, Keaton amusingly revisits and reflects on some of her favorite and not-so-favorite fashion moments over the decades, from childhood homemade outfits to red carpet ensembles and street style experiments she tried from the 1960s until today.
