Alain Bloch

Saint-Cyrien, Engineer and PhD in Organizational Computing from the University of Paris-Dauphine, Alain Bloch is Emeritus Professor of HEC Paris and Honorary Professor of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, where he held the Marketing, Sales and Retail Chair (1995-2015) and was scientific director of the Research Master in Management Sciences (2006-2011). He was Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l'Ecole Militaire (IRSEM) from 2011 to 2015. He was also a director and Vice Chairman of the Société Française de Management (SFM) and created and managed as scientific director at HEC Paris the Master X-HEC entrepreneurs, joint degree between the Ecole Polytechnique and HEC Paris (since 2017), as well as the Executive certificates Owner President and Leadership in Private Equity.

After a short career as an active officer, his own experience as an entrepreneur and manager (he was notably the founder in 1990 and President until 1995 of "L'Annuaire Soleil", the first competitor of the "Yellow Pages" of France Telecom, now Orange) have led him to focus his research for more than fifteen years on innovation, entrepreneurship, family businesses and the sustainability of organizations. The author of a dozen books and numerous scientific articles, he recently published on these subjects La stratégie du propriétaire (with N. Kachaner and S. Mignon, BCG-Pearson Village Mondial, 2012), followed by L'éternité en heritage (with I. Lamothe, Economica, 2016, 2nd edition), Entrepreneurs, magiciens and prophetes (with F. Moreau, Hermann, 2019), La pierre et l'edifice (with E. Nabat, Economica, 2022) and co- signed in Harvard Business Review (with N. Kachaner and G. Stalk, Nov. 2012) “What You Can Learn from Family Business. Focus on resilience, not short-term performance. ". It is also in this context that he developed within Bloch Dumonvillier & Co, of which he is co-founder, consulting activities oriented towards supporting entrepreneurs and owner-managers, and that he has been since 2012 Senior Executive Coach (SYNTEC accredited) of ICEO LHH France.

Alain Bloch is a board member of the companies Schmidt Groupe (Cuisines Schmidt), CEPIG and Solinest, and Honorary President of Chamber of the Commercial Court of Paris, where he sat until 2014.
