Vittorio Mosca is, lets say an atypical writer. In fact his life, that is a constellation of many experiences, was never that of a writer.
In the beginning, as a young man, coming from an important industrial family in Milan, he dedicated himself to his studies in economics. During his early years he travelled and at age 17 went to the United States, taking part in an exchange program in order to keep his mind free and open to what was going on outside Italy.
When he was 21 he graduated from University and then worked as reporter for a year in South America as correspondent for an Italian publisher. When he was 23 he earned a Masters degree in Turin and then began to work in an interesting sector, working wheat, which gave him the opportunity to learn about the basics of how the tough agricultural sector works.
After this phase he entered the family business, Frette, as manager and stayed for the rest of his professional life becoming Chairman and major shareholder.
In the period dedicated to working in Frette, he began to grow more interested in product research, learning about the refined essence and colors of the linens. He took the Frette collections all over the world. He inherited a certain taste for that which is esthetically pleasing and all that is creative from his mother, a well known painter of the 1930′s .
When he sold his stake in the family business he began to dedicate his time to other interests.
In particular to art and culture and finally today, even if by chance, to writing. A world that is often suitable to a later part of life.
For many years he has been on the board of a Museum in Washington D.C. that is dedicated female artists and to developing events and exhibits in this sector. As for writing, it must be said that it all happened by chance without forewarning. One day it became clear that there were aspects of relationships that could be analyzed and discussed in a very special way, benefiting many.
And so, instead of writing the typical journal to put in the study to be forgotten about he wrote a short book, just as an exercise but to printed.
This book, by the unusual name of Grattini was an immediate success and as of today has been translated into English, French, Japaneese and Spanish and has been read now all over the world. It is on sale at Amazon.com and Amazon.UK and various other stores on the web. It's a short story that has emerged, maybe because it hit home and it touched on a topic that in a dry, penetrated in a fairly superficial world.
The book is simple and it merges the best of the oriental and western cultures. Its a book that as an observer put it " talks about the subtle art of caressing with ones nails" a very Unique book.
