David Goode

David Goode studied sociology at the City University of New York and received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 1980. He specializes in ethnomethodology and disability studies and has a record of publications in both these areas. He is known for his work with deaf and blind children, published in a book A World Without Words, and also for his work on quality of life for people with disabilities. He has a book on interspecies understanding, Playing with My Dog Katie, and most recently has completed a study of Willowbrook State School, published under the title A History and Sociology of Willowbrook State School. He is a student of Harold Garfinkel, Melvin Pollner and Cynthia Epstein. He is currently preparing a book about famous persons who were deaf and blind.
