Mike Carden

Michael Carden is the author of six successful books: a trilogy of historical novels based on Alfred the Great and three humorous books recounting his cycling misadventures, which have regularly reached the top spot in Amazon’s cycling e-books rankings.

Mike has spent most of his life in Cumbria and in South West England. His young life was in Wiltshire, while most of his adult life has been in Cumbria and in Dorset.

He and his wife brought up their three children in Cumbria and enjoy the Lake District now with their grandchildren whenever they can.

Mike has run his own businesses nearly all his working life, and the imprint ‘Bike Ride Books’ is no exception. Through it he has sold nearly 30,000 books: the cycling books as well as the trilogy ‘Alfred of Wessex’.

An extract from ‘A Lake District Grand Tour’ has even been published in ‘A String of Pearls’, an anthology of Lake District writings, alongside extracts from Dickens, Wordsworth and many more.

After the successful publication of the ‘Alfred of Wessex’ trilogy of historical novels, the next novel will be a murder mystery set in the area of England that he knows so well, the English Lake District.
