In the fall of 2014 his didactic study of an historic religion was released and won a Reader's Service Award for excellent. Titled, THE OTHER ITALIANS, it is touted to be the most controversial book ever written for Italians, about Italians by an American - Italian.

Dr.David Mercaldo has been a guest at over 450 organizations throughout the metropolitan area since 2006. Touted as "America's Newest Story-teller," readers agree that "David has a way of bringing out human emotions in his readers." His first two novels( Ferry and Seamstress) center on the immigrant experience during the early to mid-twentieth century. These were followed by LITTLE BOY BOO, an interactive book that gives the young reader the opportunity to become its illustrator. On the front cover, the new illustrator gets to write their name under the author's and on the rear cover, there is a place for a picture and a personal biography. The last six pages are lined for the child to create their own adventure. Without a doubt...one of the most unique reading a writing experiences offered in any book.

These days, "Doc" (earned PHD in Humanities) is working on several new books: THE FINAL ADVENTURE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES…MY CARUSO (BIOGRAPHY), THE "NEW" ADVENTURES OF LITTLE BOY BOO and A POLICE THRILLER.

Mercaldo spend nearly forty years in the classroom and as a school administrator. During the 1990s two of his plays, FATHRA and APARTMENT TO LET opened Off-Broadway and had successful runs. He and his wife Linda form a unique duo as "George and Gracie," and David's one man show, EYEWITNESS depicts the life of St. John in a scripted version of the Gospel by the same man. His newest play:BREAKFAST ON FIRST AVENUE is soon to open in Manhattan!
