Nancy Alvarez

Although I grew up in New York, and created my first writing work there called "Long time Coming And A Long Time Gone", starring Richard Gere, most of my work life as a writer has taken place in Los Angeles, where I wrote for "The Waltons" as well as "Sharon: Portrait of a Mistress" for NBC. I have taught writing and screenwriting at UCLA, USC, Bellevue Community College, North Seattle Community College, and Central Seattle Community College. For over five years I co-taught video workshops in the Seattle, WA area for kids-at-risk; the finished products were shown every year at the Port Townsend Film Festival in Port Townsend, WA. After I completed my memoir "Little Nancy: The Journey Home" I began to offer workshops for women around the northwest to help them find the parts of self they had lost over the years, as they fulfilled their roles of wife, mother, and careerist. I have laughed, cried, learned, and discovered more about myself as women have struggled with their memories in these workshops, and found a new talent as a memory facilitator. You can find more information on both me, and the book at www.nancyalvarezwrites.com. I look forward to hearing from you on my blog, and working with you as well.
