Lachlan Ness is an Australian Presbyterian minister who lives with his wife Janet and two "children" Jock the border collie and Tonkie the Tonkinese cat in a small village on the shores of Lake Macquarie New South Wales Australia.
He has served mostly in country parishes and spent sixteen years as a chaplain in the Australian Regular Army. He is currently serving as a part-time police chaplain, and has for the past fifteen years. For five years he was a chaplain in an aged care facility and about once a year serves on P&O ships as a chaplain. His three books to date ("A Kangaroo Loose in the Top Paddock," "A Kangaroo Loose in Shetland" and "One Memorable Summer - A Scottish Adventure" ) take a light-hearted look at life, people in his congregations and out of them, and numerous amusing situations in which he has found himself. His wide experience of life allows for plenty of story material.
Lachlan has also spent time serving in parishes in Shetland and in mainland Scotland. His fourth book, "The Ness Fireside Book of God Ghosts Ghouls and other true stories" is close to publication. In this book Lachlan recounts many strange and inexplicable stories he's heard first-hand from people from all walks of life, during nearly fifty years of ministry, and also recounts some of his own experiences, which few people have ever been told, outside his own family and some close friends.
He looks at these stories from a faith perspective. How do these strange experiences tie in with a belief in a personal God? He challenges you to ponder honestly the unseen and mysterious world around us. Is it real, or are those who recount their experiences simply mistaken, or even delusional? After reading the book, you can decide for yourself. Start looking for it about June this year (2013).
