Robert Smith

At a very young age, Robert Smith, born on February 16th, 1988, has had a profound interest in various industrial areas using advance technology. These interests lead Robert to become a college student at Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in Engineering Technology, with a concentration in Computer Engineering Technology and a minor in Computer Science, class of year 2011.

Throughout his journey in college, he felt it was his duty to develop a requirement for himself to become involved in extracurricular programs. These programs would enhance his overall knowledge and experience in order to become a successful engineer. After consulting with his college professors, he was advised to join the MTSU Experimental Vehicle Program, which is geared toward Engineering Technology students. Considering he had a tremendous interest in green energy, in the year 2009, he decided to join the MTSU Solar Boat team. This decision soon provided the small spark he needed to perform his own research and to build his own 63 watt solar powered system.

Robert has dedicated a decent amount of time learning how solar panels work, and how solar panels are built. Robert became involved in online solar related communities where he learned many of the basic fundamentals about what was needed to create a solar power system. Robert has experienced firsthand what it is like to build a solar panel and has provided support to individuals new to the solar industry. Robert, in the year of 2009, also created a series of free online videos that teach individuals how to build a complete 63 watt solar power system and other useful solar energy information.
