Edward Cumella

Dr. Edward Cumella is a Harvard-educated Psychologist who has spent much of his 25-year Psychology career studying the relationship between science and the Bible.

Dr. Cumella is a Professor of Psychology at Kaplan University. Previously he was Executive Director of a major psychiatric treatment facility, Remuda Programs for Eating Disorders, where for 12 years he pioneered work that integrates scientific findings with Biblical truth. During this time he participated in an NIMH-funded study exploring the genetics of anorexia. For seven years he served as Senior Editor of The Christian Journal of Eating Disorders, and in 2008 he published Eating Disorders: A Handbook of Christian Treatment.

In addition to his books, Dr. Cumella has published many scientific articles, presented scientific findings internationally, and led workshops at more than 50 professional conferences. He has been interviewed as a healthcare expert on national television, radio, and in many newspapers, including ABC, CBS, FOX, the Discovery Channel, Good Morning America, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Reader’s Digest.

Dr. Cumella is/has been a member of The American Psychological Association, The Arizona Psychological Association, International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals, the Christian Association for Psychological Studies, and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He serves on the board of a charitable organization dedicated to the provision of mental healthcare to underserved populations and has been listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in America. He serves or has served on the editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals, including Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention, The Remuda Review, and APA's PsycCRITIQUES: Contemporary Psychology.

Dr. Cumella’s personal passion has taken him down a road that few have traveled: applying the fascinating and uncanny discoveries of modern genetics to the conception of Jesus Christ without a human father.
