Phil was born in 1950 and is the eldest of four children brought up in the Swinton and Pendlebury area of Lancashire. There are no previous indications that anyone in the family had an interest in writing, other than Phil.
Prior to publishing 'Poetry in Motion' in 2009, phil found a letter written by his mother (b.1927-2006) which had lay undiscovered for years. In this letter she had written a poem which described life in her day. This amazing discovery meant that it could be included in his book. The poem has been titled 'Mother of mine'. No other writings by his mother have been found.
Phil moved to Merseyside, in 1999 and at the time of publishing his first book he owned and drove a taxi in the St Helens area. This inspired the title and book cover which was designed by himself.
His unique style of writing takes a look at life in general and captures the humorous, romantic, and annoying bits of life that we all encounter from time to time. His writing has been described as down to earth, topical and full of humour and conviction.
Other books written and published by Phil are, Poetic Justice ,The Adventures of Jeremy Worm,' Thingamagigs and his latest book Minds Eye. Phil enjoys writing for all age groups and he is also well known for his pet portraits and landscape paintings. All the childrens books are self illustrated.
