Roger T. Maxey

Roger Maxey was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, the third son of Dr. and Mrs. Louis Maxey. At the age of six he and his family would relocate to Long Beach, Mississippi, just 60 miles away from New Orleans, Louisiana. It would be here on the Gulf Coast where Roger would spend most of his youth: graduating from St. Stanislaus High School in Bay St. Louis, MS and obtaining a Bachelors of Science degree from Xavier University in New Orleans, LA.

Roger's passion for story telling was witnessed early on by his mother, who would one day bring his writing career to an abrupt halt at the age of fourteen by shelving his first short story entry into L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest, deeming it, "Content not appropriate for a young teenager. "Luckily Mrs. Maxey would allow more substantive works to pass which would lead to him winning several youth essay competitions, and finishing runner up in the Knight Ridder Journalism College Scholarship program. Despite these several accolades received during his youth his writing career would stay dormant for over a decade.

It would be the historic tragedy of hurricane Katrina that would not only rekindle his love for writing, but would reunite him with his High School sweetheart from Pass Christian, MS. They would marry and relocate to the Atlanta, GA area, where they currently reside.

Mova's Jazz Café (Invisible in New Orleans) is Roger's first work of fiction. The Dormant Gene of Failure is his current work in progress.
