Levent Tuncel

Levent Tunçel is a Professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. He received his master's degrees from the Middle East Technical University and Cornell University, in 1988 and 1990, respectively. He completed his PhD in 1992 at Cornell University.

He is the author of the monograph, Polyhedral and Semidefinite Programming Methods in Combinatorial Optimization, and co-author of the textbook, A Gentle Introduction to Optimization. He has served on the editorial boards of Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, Mathematical Programming A, Mathematics of Operations Research, Operations Research, and SIAM Journal on Optimization. Tunçel received Premier's Research Excellence Award (Ontario, Canada, 1999), Faculty of Mathematics Award for Distinction in Teaching (University of Waterloo, 2012), and The University of Waterloo Distinguished Teacher Award (2014).
