M. Nicholas Coppola

Dr Coppola is the Program Director for the Healthcare Master of Science (MS), Clinical Practice Management (CPM) degree program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He is a tenured Associate Professor. He is also the ACHE Regent for the West Texas Region and the Immediate Past Regent for the Army. Dr Coppola is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with 26-years of enlisted and officer service. He served his last five years on active duty as the Founding Associate Dean, Army Medical Department Graduate School, and also as an Associate Professor and Founding Program Director of the Army-Baylor Graduate Program in Health & Business Administration (MHA/MBA joint degree). He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and a past Fellow of the US Medicine Institute. Dr. Coppola is the author of over 100 articles and/or presentations, and has presented papers and abstracts at conferences worldwide. His textbook on, "Leadership for Health Professionals: Theory, Skills and Applications," was published by Jones and Bartlett in 2010. In addition to his advanced degrees, Dr Coppola performed an undergraduate Fellowship in Cardiology at Hahnemann Medical College, completed an Administrative Residency in Health Research, Policy & Administration at the Surgeon General’s office, and completed an Internship in the Teaching Professions at the Medical College of Virginia. His other significant awards and honors include receiving the 9A proficiency designator from the Surgeon General (which identifies the top 1% of military personnel), and being selected as the 2008 Army Medical Service Corps Mentor of the Year. In addition to his academic position, Dr Coppola also currently serves as a volunteer Chaplain for the University Medical Center
