Dwayne is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and has a Masters Degree in Anthropology from the College of William & Mary with a concentration in historical archaeology. He has been conducting historical research as well as excavations for 20 years and has worked at several sites of significance. Some of his more notable projects include excavating and extensively researching 17th century sites in Virginia, documenting War of 1812 sites in Maryland, and conducting research and excavations at Elk Landing at the head of the Chesapeake Bay which was an important transportation corridor during the 18th and early 19th centuries along with the possible location of a 17th century Swedish trading post. He has also researched early sites in South Carolina and Bermuda.
He is currently the co-director of Pickett Educational Resources LLC where he has developed several programs to teach the principals of archaeology and historical research for both children and adults. These include hands on excavation programs, interactive learning games, and lectures.
