Noni Gross

I’ve always loved to draw, paint and write... even when my letters didn’t spell anything! All those lines and curves were so exciting to put together. I’d pretend the letters spelled my name. But FREBMGIBRX was hard to pronounce, so my grandmother showed me which letters to use. I’ve been writing real words ever since.

After running out of walls in my room and in the basement, I decided I might want to put my artwork on paper. It was a lot easier to show people my latest drawings and they fit in the books better too.

Noni Gross is the name I write and illustrate children's books under. My given name is Leda Miller and I have been painting in oils and watercolor all my adult life. I studied writing with the Children's Writers Institute many years ago, so I have a lot of stories and characters in my head just waiting to be in a book.
