Jack Walker grew up in the Bronx in New York City. He graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and began work on his master's in literature at the University of North Carolina before being drafted. Walker was a Marine for four years and served for one in Vietnam as a recon patrol leader. Later, he graduated from Harvard Law School and joined Latham & Watkins in 1971. A tax lawyer for many years and a firm managing partner for seven, Walker retired in 2003. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
