Bob Bishop

Robert John (Bob) Bishop was born 7th December, 1944 in Nottingham, England. Educated at the Henry Mellish Grammar School, Bulwell, he achieved a BA Hons in Psychology and Archaeology at the University of Leicester, graduating in 1966. He was for 32 years Head of English and Drama at Stalham High School in Norfolk, where he established a strong tradition of musical theatre.

With the musical collaboration of Bob McNeil Watson, Bob wrote more than twenty plays, stage musicals and original pantomimes over a period of thirty years.

As writer/director of the Fossick Valley Fumblers fringe theatre company, Bob premiered many of his plays at the Edinburgh Fringe between 1981 and 2000, including the hugely popular Sir Jasper series of farces, and four acclaimed Sherlock Holmes comedies.

After retiring from both teaching and the theatre, Bob spent five years living in France with his wife, Sally, before returning to the UK and turning his creative talents to writing prose fiction.

"A Tickle Amongst the Cornstalks" was a first novel, published in 2010, with a collection of short stories - "Shadows on the Blind" - following in 2015.

Bob's most recent publication is "The Repulsive Affair of the Red leech," a new Sherlock Holmes adventure based on a title invented by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
