Joe Johnston

Joe Johnston is a journalist and historian whose varied career is paved with creative milestones. He is the author of "Necessary Evil: Settling Missouri with a Rope and a Gun", and "The Mack Marsden Murder Mystery: Vigilantism or Justice?," and "It Ends Here: Missouri's Last Vigilante," from Missouri History Museum. He authored "Grits to Glory," from Pelican Press. The History Press includes his "Franklin," chronicling the photo history of Franklin, TN, in its "Images of America" series. He's also the author of the ebooks "Somethin from Nothin," and "How to Fail in the Music Business."

Johnston contributes to various periodicals, including Missouri History Museum's online magazine, "History Happens Here." Also "America's Civil War," "Naval History," "Wild West," and "True West." He illustrated books for Thomas Nelson and other publishers.

Johnston is also a film maker whose work can be seen in the U.S. Army Museum.
