Terry Prohaska

Terry Prohaska is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger who began playing commercial folk music in the early 1960s. After graduating in 1971 with a degree in music theory, trumpet and french horn he taught music at Eastern Oregon State College and subsequently studied period instruments and performance practices of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Terry has toured throughout the United States and Canada performing at clubs, concert halls, festivals, college campuses and public schools. He has written numerous arrangements for fingerstyle & flatpick guitar, 5-string banjo, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, autoharp, recorder, early music ensembles, concert band and vocal groups.

Since 1994 he has owned and operated Crystal Creek Music Studio in Portland, Oregon where he teaches a wide variety of instruments, produces recordings and freelances as a music engraver, arranger and studio musician. Terry resides in Portland with his family and performs with his longtime group The Rite of Spring, a mainstay of acoustic music in the Pacific Northwest.
