Charnell Havens

Since retiring from her first career in 2003, Charnell Havens has become an award-winning photographer and real estate agent. She has also devoted time throughout the last fifteen years to pursuing her passion -- paying tribute to the life and legacy of the gifted Navajo artist, Quincy Tahoma.

Mrs. Havens' 40+ years in management and management consulting have honed her skills at the research and writing needed to create the Tahoma biography. As a former chief knowledge officer with global responsibilities, she worked with people of many cultures. That experience enabled her to better understand the oral histories told during the research journey. With her co-author, Vera Marie Badertscher, Charnell Havens created “Quincy Tahoma of Santa Fe,” an article in the May 2006 issue of the American Indian Art Magazine. Additionally, in her management and consulting capacities, she published numerous professional articles and authored a chapter of a book.

An alumna of The Ohio State University, Mrs. Havens lives in Virginia, close to her children and grandchildren. She and her two therapy dogs, Yogi Bear and Paisley, regularly visit patients in hospitals and nursing homes.
