R. B. Payne

R. B. PAYNE’s earliest story can be carbon-dated to his seventh year on the planet. His mother destroyed the yellow tablet pages filled with aliens and spaceships. Undeterred, he continued to write but never let his mother read his stories again.

His story Eddie G. at the Gates of Hell (written much, much later!) was well-received in the Stoker-nominated Midnight Walk anthology about a decade ago. About 25 stories later, (he is admittedly a slow writer), his work has appeared in a multitude of magazines and anthologies including the Stoker-nominated Miscreations: Gods, Monstrosities and Other Horrors. Other tales have appeared in 18 Wheels of Horror, Madhouse, Hell Comes to Hollywood II, All-American Horror of the 21st Century, Times of Trouble, Monk Punk, and the original Chiral Mad volume.

His most recent stories are included in Azathoth: Ordo ab Chao (a nice Lovecraftian tale entitled "The Door at 21 bis rue Xavier Privas") and in the forthcoming FABLE: An Anthology of Sci-Fi, Horror & The Supernatural (a fun tale called "Paddlejumpers" where two graveyard shift EMTS battle an invasive species when they respond to a not-so-routine emergency call from Hollywood’s famed porn ranch film location.)

A nomad by choice, R. B. Payne lives in Paris, France, with his wife, dog, and cat. He can be found at the local brasserie where wine and conversation impede the writing process but provide an endless source of story ideas.
