Robert Epstein

I am a licensed psychologist who moved from New York City to Berkeley, CA in 1982. I rediscovered haiku in the 1990s after mysteriously developing chronic health problems which significantly impacted both body and mind. My attention span has been shrunk to the length of a single breath--just right for writing haiku. Haiku has thus saved my life. Having been born for retirement (but constitutionally incapable of planning for such things), I cherish the time I have for reading and writing poetry, which has been informed by my longtime study of Eastern philosophy and spirituality--Zen and Taoism, in particular.
