Tim Healey has worked with high school students for over 24 years. He has been an English teacher, an assistant principal, a high school principal for 11 years, and currently works as an Associate Superintendent for Student Learning and Accountability. Tim and his co-author (Alex Carter) have written two books on the ninth grade transition. Their first book has been critically acclaimed by the Library Jouranal and is designed to help parents support their teen as he/she enters the 9th grade. Their second book is companion book specifically to be read by the student. Together, the books provide an excellent and simple way for both parent and student to be prepared for this critical juncture in life. These books are "must reads" the spring or summer before the ninth grade year.
Tim and his co-author have presented across the United States, both at national conferences, including the National School Boards Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and in local school communities helping parents and families support their teenager's successful transition to high school. Together they have been published in Principal Leadership magazine (a publication of the National Association of Secondary School Principals) and Our Children magazine (a publication of the National Parent Teacher Association).
