Deonna Kelli Sayed

Deonna Kelli Sayed is an American-Muslim author, global citizen, and cultural commentator. Her first book, Paranormal Obsession: America's Fascination with Ghosts & Hauntings, Spooks & Spirits, is a cultural studies discussion regarding the influence of paranormal reality TV in a post 9/11 American society. Her forthcoming book, So You Want To Hunt Ghosts: A Down To Earth Guide, is out October 2012 and looks at emerging ethical, philosophical, and research-based approaches to paranormal investigation.

She is editor of Ghostvillage.com, the Internet's premier paranormal destination.

Deonna also writes decidedly non-paranormal related literary short stories and creative non-fiction. Most of her writing, regardless of the genre, is ultimately tied to narratives of identity and belonging. She is a contributor to the groundbreaking work, Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American-Muslim Women (Soft Skull Press).

In addition to paranormal investigation and writing, Deonna is an experienced public speaker. She also composes original music on the piano and detests yard work. If you want to be her friend, be prepared to make offerings of strong, hot coffee: cream, no sugar.
