Bruce Eldine Morton

Bruce Eldine Morton, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at the John A. Burns School of Medicine of the University of Hawaii, was born Southern California in 1938. After Completing the M.S.and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin in 1965, he spent post-doctoral periods as a Research Fellow at Wisconsin’s Institute for Enzyme Research, M.I.T., and Harvard Medical School. He was hired by the School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii,1969. There he directed a neuroscience research laboratory long after his "retirement" in 1995. In 1974 Dr. Morton set a world record for distance flown in a hang gilder. He was also active in Gymnastics, SCUBA diving, Wind surfing, Snow boarding, and now Dual Purpose Motorcycle tours of Mayan ruins. Dr. Morton has been a member of many choral societies and was in concert with the Boston Symphony. He also spent sabbaticals at USC, Stanford, and at the University of Michigan. He is a member numerous professional societies including the International Society for Research on Aggression.
