David Schaefer

David Schaefer was born in San Francisco and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received a BA in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MBA in Marketing from the Harvard Business School. For 25 years, he worked in marketing positions, including product management at General Foods and account management at FCB Advertising. He managed brands such as Jell-O, Cool Whip, Clorox, Levis, and C&H Sugar. In 2000, he started teaching business courses at California State University, Sacramento and then at Sacramento City College. He co-authored his first Advertising textbook with William Arens in 2005.
