Dahveed

D. A. Isley aka Dahveed is a freelance writer, the author of the 2005 release - Through The Eyes of A Foster Child: A Poetic Journey, his first book of poetry and prose which focuses on foster children. In 2010 he released Before I Was Born: I Saw The World Through Your Eyes which is a book of poetry for children and expectant mothers.

He has won several awards for his poetry. in 2003 he was nominated as one of the Best Poets of the year by The International Society of Poets. in 2004 he received a Certificate of Achievement “Honorable Mention" for his poem Let It Flow by Poets Institute for Advanced Poetic Studies, the Editor’s Choice Award “Outstanding Achievement In Poetry” by The International Society of Poets for his poem Mirror Image, the Editor’s Choice Award “Outstanding Achievement In Poetry” by The International Society of Poets for his poem The Answer.

In 2006 he was listed as one of the Top 100 Authors of the Year for 2005-2006 and Top 10 Most Popular Self-Published Author for 2005-2006 by Disilgold Publishing in New York. In 2006 he received the San Diego Public Library Local Author Award for his book Through The Eyes of A Foster Child: A Poetic Journey and in 2013 he received the San Diego Public Library Local Author Award for his book The Essence of Wisdom and Life. Dahveed is working on other projects. He currently resides in Southern California.
