David T. Boyd

David Turnley Boyd grew up on Chicago's South Side, and from a very early age exhibited a desire to write, having written his first short story at nine years old. Later, while attending St. Ignatius College Preparatory and The University of Illinois at Chicago, David displayed a voracious appetite for reading and was particularly interested in authors Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Richard Matheson and Edgar Allen Poe.

While on vacation in San Francisco during the spring of 2001, David met with good friend Michael Thomas Tower, a highly talented playwright and advocate of small stage theater. After reading several of Michael's published works David remembered The Story he'd created and decided to develop it into a larger piece of work, aptly naming it Falling Down, given the recurring importance of the nursery rhyme London Bridge is Falling Down.

Once published Falling Down garnered rave reviews from readers across the country, and was considered one of the top 100 self-published books by the Writer's Digest Magazine in their 13th Annual Self-Published Book Awards. The book was described by judges as having an "imaginative plot" and "plenty of twists and turns and unexpected happenings."

Since Falling Down's successful release David has continued working toward his goal of being a best-selling writer. In 2006 he released Mystery, Malevolence & Murder, Volume 1 - a compilation of thirteen chilling short stories (Volume 2 is now complete, pending publication). He also is in the middle of re-writes on his second novel, titled "Lux ex Tenebris" (Light from Darkness) and anticipates it will be ready for publication by Spring of 2012.

In September of 2010 David officially launched Another Shore Press, LLC (www.anothershorepress.com), his independent literary press. His original releases (Falling Down and Mystery, Malevolence & Murder, Volume 1) were both re-edited and re-released through his press during the Spring of 2011 on eBook and paperback.

Other projects include a podcast show, also titled Mystery, Malevolence & Murder, which can be downloaded for free on iTunes and Liberated Syndication. David also adapted Falling Down into a screenplay and is currently developing it into a feature-length film.

David is a graduate of State University of New York - Empire State College and has completed his MFA in Creative Writing at The City College of New York.
