Neil O'Boyle

Neil O’Boyle is an Associate Professor in the School of Communications at Dublin City University (DCU). His research interests include sport, promotional culture and communication theory. Most recently, he has written about the overlapping fields of sport, media and nation branding, with his work published in journals such as Sport in Society and Television and New Media. He is the author of New Vocabularies, Old Ideas: Culture, Irishness, and the Advertising Industry (Peter Lang, 2011) and co-editor of Sport, the Media and Ireland: Interdisciplinary Perspectives (Cork University Press, 2020). At DCU, Dr O’Boyle teaches courses on advertising, psychology, sport, and communication theory.
