Stephen Edger

Stephen Edger is the bestselling author of British psychological and crime thrillers, including Snatched, and Little Girl Gone. He also writes as M.A. Hunter, the bestselling author of psychological thrillers including The Teacher’s Pet, and The Woman on Platform 8. His complex, twist-driven narratives have captivated readers since 2010, culminating in his milestone 30th novel, The New Mother publishing in November 2026. His body of work has been likened in style to Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, and T.M. Logan.

Diagnosed as Autistic with combined ADHD later in life, he openly discusses how his neurodivergent pattern recognition and hyperfocus serve as the ultimate storytelling engines for high-stakes suspense. He is a vocal advocate of neurodivergent acceptance, regularly posting about the challenges of living in a neurotypical world through his social media channels.

Away from writing, he is a huge film buff with an encyclopaedic knowledge of actors and directors from the 1980s and 1990s. He enjoys walking his dogs (though not in the rain), cooking, and plotting future projects.

He hails from Darlington, grew up in London, but is now settled in Southampton with his wife and two children and has now adapted three of his novels into television screenplays.

Stephen Edger also writes under the name M.A. Hunter.
