About the author:
Richard Heppner has served as Woodstock Town Historian since 2001. During this time he has written extensively on the history of one of America's most famous small towns and about life in New York's Catskill Mountains. In addition to numerous essays written for the Woodstock Times, many of which are included in "Woodstock - Everyday History," he is also the author of "Women of the Catskills," co-author of "Legendary Locals of Woodstock" and editor of "Remembering Woodstock."
Heppner holds the rank of Professor Emeritus at Orange County Community College where, for twenty-five years, he served as a faculty member, Chair of the Arts and Communication Department, Associate Vice President of Liberal Arts and as Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Today, he continues to serve as Woodstock Town Historian and offers periodic pieces for the Woodstock Times and its parent company, Ulster Publishing. He also serves as a Board member of the Historical Society of Woodstock and the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild.
