Tom Pollack

Tom Pollack was born in Burbank California back in the 60's, the 5th of 7 children. An active sailor and world traveler, Tom furnished the original idea for the hit 2008 Walt Disney Film "Morning Light" which premiered nationwide in theaters.

Through his connection with competitive sailing, Tom met H.M. Juan Carlos, the King of Spain. After an elaborate dinner party on the island of Mallorca, Tom was inspired to create the Wayward Son novel after finding a dog eared Gideon Bible in his Spanish hotel room at 3am. "I returned late from a dinner with the King and Queen and had nothing to read in English from the long plane ride from California. I rummaged around my hotel room and found one of those dog-eared Gideon Bibles in the drawer next to the bed. Pumped up from meeting Spain's royal family I figured the King James version was sure to put me to sleep....

But to my surprise, I discovered in the Book of Genesis humans lived for hundreds of years before the great flood. It sounded very supernatural! The Bible says they all died after these enormously long life spans. Hmm...I thought- Now that would be cool to live for 930 years like Adam or 600+ years like Noah- What would I do? Imagine if Michelangelo had centuries instead of just decades to create his masterpieces!

So I asked myself, would it not be heaven on Earth if all your friends and loved ones lived an equally long span? But what if they did not? What if you were unique? How would an exceptionally long life span shape your relationships with normal people? Would you keep it a secret?

Then I noticed this story in Genesis about Cain who killed his younger brother and was cursed by God himself! Huh? God cursing his own creation? The Bible is silent whether this "murderer" was punished by his peers or what ever happened to him. Did he go to hell? Did he ever repent? Did God lift his curse? Did the "devil" have a hand when killed his brother? Could this notorious killer ever find redemption? And who would tell his story and how would it come to light?

Thus the novel "Wayward Son" was born." My co-authors and best friends Jim Alves and John Loftus jumped on board and helped me weave this tale into a 500+ page novel.
