Kym’s interest in pageants began during college, and in 1986, her first win came when she was crowned First Runner Up in the Miss Texas USA pageant. Since then, Kym was crowned Mrs. Texas United America 2005 and Mrs. Texas 2007 (National Mrs. Pageant), as well as Third Runner Up for Mrs. United America. She currently holds the title of United America Ambassador.
After receiving a BA in Fashion and Fine Arts in 1986, Kym worked at a fashion design house and had the opportunity to use her unique talents designing clothing from 1998 to 2000. Kym’s entrepreneurial spirit has made her a successful businesswoman: and she has owned day spas, clothing boutiques, and salons across the country; she hosted a talk show; and has been a make-up artist for videos and photo shoots for various clients. She is also a licensed cosmetologist and medical aesthetician. Jackson’s first book, on manners and etiquette was written with her daughter, Chauncey, and her mother, Elouise Jackson Beaird. “Powder Puff Principles: Enhancing Your Personal Radiance,” is a generational collaboration that remembers the grace and good manners our mothers and grandmothers displayed in the way they dressed, the way they behaved, and the image they projected. On the heels of that book came “Gentlemen’s Principles: A Little Black Book of Etiquette.”
Kym volunteers with the Locks of Love and The Rose Ribbon Foundation, which provide reconstructive surgery to cancer survivors with fixed or low incomes. Other volunteer work includes The Bonita House of Hope, Autism Speaks Foundation, and Yellowstone Academy.
Kym also enjoys playing golf, jogging, and arts and crafts. She resides in Houston, TX and she and her husband, Willard L. Jackson have three children - Chauncey, Will, and Blake.
