Don’s mother taught him to read at age four. He read anything and everything as he grew up in the 1940s and 50s. His memoir is Straight Outta Dumfuk, coming of age in the Appalachian town of Shippenville, Pa, population 258 featuring mostly two-digit IQs.

Don’s first job was age 12. He was the Saturday tele-phone operator in his home town. He earned ten cents an hour. At 16, he worked as an embalmer’s assistant for the summer. The next summer, he worked on at a strip mine, a muddy, cold, dreary, dangerous job. Those two jobs convinced him Dad was right so off to college he went.

Don majored in beer and girls. He flunked out of Penn State at end of his sophomore year. Three years later he was expelled from Clarion State as a member of an Alpha Gamma Phi a local Animal House frat. He was the only brother old enough to buy kegs. He was immediately drafted and luckily was sent to Germany not Vietnam. Two years later and far wiser and more mature, he stepped onto the lowest rung of the corporate ladder at 25. Heeding advice from a wealthy older family friend, ten years later after a climb through eight different companies he quit his job with an annual salary equal to price of his La Habra Heights hilltop home.

Don worked for more than 20 Fortune 500 companies as well as the Republican National Committee and many political campaigns both in LA and in Hawaii.

He first went to Nathaniel Branden, famous psycho-therapist and the father of self-esteem as a client when he got divorced. He loved therapy and returned to college at 35. After earning his degrees he did the five-year intern-ship with Branden as his mentor. Don closed his own practice in 1994 and devoted his life to writing. He has 19 nonfiction books published and his first fiction book was released April 2019.

Beyond writing, other passions include a deep, abiding hatred of frauds aka (PUA/DATING EXPERTS) hypocrites, bureaucrats, poverty pimps and nearly all politicians; a lifelong devotion and interest in psychology, evolutionary psychology, evolutionary biology, anthropology, philosophy; astronomy and cosmology. He lives in Whittier CA, with his dog Smiley and his cat Silly II.
