HA Hutson grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, where a good, scary story was practically currency. Told by firelight, or leaning forward in the dark on a drive down a pitch-black back road. Raised in that tradition, she knew all too well nothing is spookier than what's waiting just past the edge of the light.
Born and raised in Giles County, Virginia, she followed a winding path to get here. Starting with a business management at New River Community College before something older and more insistent called her off course. Scholarships for her writing carried her to Hollins University, where she earned a Bachelor's in Creative Writing and English and later attended Full Sail University for screenwriting.
She's the author of eight novels and a short story collection as well as a series of intertwined novellas currently being released with more in the pipeline. She’s also the author and photographer of Cemeteries of Southwest Virginia: Exploring Appalachian Burial Grounds, pairing her prose with her own photography of the region’s oldest resting places. Beyond her own writing, she works as a freelance editor and a professional photographer (Terre Mechanté Photography) with art available at: Honey Hutson Photography portfolio website.
