Dr Bernie Crimmins is a GP/Family Medical Practitioner of 29 years experience with a special interest in Men's Health, particularly in the lifestyle management of preventing and treating disease. He has completed extra study in Nutrition, completing a Post Graduate Diploma of Human Nutrition and a Masters Degree in Public Health (Nutrition). He comes from a male dominated environment as he was the youngest of five boys, and he has three boys of his own. His brother was the late and great Peter Crimmins, a legendary Australian Rules Footballer for the Hawthorn Football Club who succumbed to testicular cancer at 28 years of age. Bernie subsequently became the team doctor of the Hawthorn Football Club and held this post for 15 years. His first book, Blokes' Health, covers the main diseases in men contributing to their early demise and presents this in a simple, down to earth manner, laced with the humour of award winning cartoonist, Harv. As well, he adds anecdotes of how he dealt with his own personal medical issues and the medical system that he is an integral part of. He keeps himself fit with a rigorous exercise regime which includes training for ocean swims and even a game or two.... or three, of Aussie Rules Football, the game he dearly loves.
