T.T. King

Never has one poet been able to breathe in all of her surroundings and turn it into two soulful collections of poems that reflect one element: Life. That’s exactly what T.T. has done with Slang*etry. Digging deep into her roots, T.T. King has delved deep down into the heart of the soulful church goers, and brought to the light those passionate club hoppers separating the two by editing verses for the sensitive ear, yet joining the two in the everyday experiences that bonds them in this thing called life.

When asked why release two versions of the book, T.T. simply replies “to convey both sides of me”. Being southern raised, King knows that being respectful takes you a long way. She felt it only right to produce Slang*etry Edited verses for her readers that find curse words offensive. She hopes that readers will look beyond the words to find meaning in her poetry, and believes that readers will make a connect and hopefully understand themselves better. Slang*etry Gutter verses are for the readers who can handle the imprudence of life. Gutter verses speaks to the soul and gives rage the voice that has been held captive. T baby captivates readers with a passion that leaps from the page and forms a revolution within the reader.

A fan of R. Kelly and Russell Simmons, T.T. King has goals of her own. Currently completing a novel entitled “Mama’s Sins”, she intends to follow in the two moguls footsteps and build her own literary empire. Admiring poets such as Talaam Acey , Dana Gilmore , Georgia Me , Inyala Vanzaant and Ntzoke Shange, Ms. King is quickly following in their footsteps. She hopes that Slang*etry is a footstool for other literary works as well as a few television shows that take it back to a time of good tv.

One of her favorite sayings is “Imagination is more important than knowledge”, but it is quite clear that T.T. King has let her imagination take the knowledge of life and ball it up into one literary explosion that is sure to electrify hearts, stir souls, and create a sense of environmental awareness that will awake the minds of even the soundest sleeper.
