SUSAN MARX is a parent educator, writer and editor of educational materials for students and teachers, and an elementary school teacher. As co-author of "Help Me Get Ready To Read: The Practical Guide For Reading Aloud To Children During Their First Five Years", Susan has facilitated early literacy/parenting workshops in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Michigan, and New Hampshire at public libraries, preschools and day care centers, early childhood conferences, and in public schools.

Since 1993, Susan has facilitated over 700 Families First (Cambridge,MA) positive parenting workshops for diverse groups of parents and professionals at homeless shelters, day care centers, preschools, public and independent schools, worksites, and national early childhood conferences. Workshop topics include fostering children's self-esteem; encouraging good communication; positive parenting; creating home-school partnerships; helping children succeed in school; understanding children's temperament and personality; and getting children ready for kindergarten. Susan served as the Senior Training Specialist responsible for recruiting and training new parent educators. Also, she was responsible for the Multicultural Training Initiative involving members of the Cantonese, Latino, and Haitian communities.
