George Straatman

George Straatman is a fantasy/horror author who lives in a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada, along with his wife Louise and a menagerie of Asian dogs. As a writer, George describes himself in the following way...

I've always subscribed to the notion that genres were merely backdrops against which a story unfolds...a tapestry with its own distinct characteristics that sets it apart from other styles of creative fiction. While writing the Converging trilogy and the Journey through the Land of Shades series, it was my intention to pay homage to the unique elements of the horror and fantasy backdrops, while creating fully realized characters who could transcend the genre boundaries. I believe that this approach might appeal to readers who would not normally appreciate these two wonderful styles of creative fiction.

I would like to give something back to those who have purchased and enjoyed his novels. To this end, I would like to offer a series of Signature Cards.

What is a signature card? It is a 4 x 6 inch card on durable poster stock. The face of the card holds the book cover image and the reverse side has the novel’s teaser and my website address…and sufficient space where I can personalize the card for readers.

I'm just a very average fellow who has always held the craft of writing in high regard. I loved to read and studied the craft of writing by analyzing what made some of my favourite authors so effective. To some extent, I have tried to incorporate these ingredients into my own product, while developing the integrity of my own voice. I have a passion for the beauty and creative freedom of the fantasy genre and I still love the unnerving edginess that well crafted horror can evoke when it is treated with the respect and gravitas it deserves. So, basically I'm just an average guy who has fostered a love for the potential of the imagination and it inherent ability to enrich our lives.

George is the author of the darkly intense horror Trilogy...The Converging, and the Journey through the Land of Shades epic fantasy series, which Includes Journey through the Land of Shades and Abjection along the Road to Apotheosis. He has recently released the stand-alone dark horror offering...Circle of the Witch.
