G. L. Lewis

Gary 'Doc' Lewis was born a coal miner's son at Washington, Pennsylvania in 1947. The family relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. in 1961 where he attended Bellevue High School. From high school he enlisted in the US Navy where he became a Hospital Corpsman and later served with the Fleet Marine Force in Vietnam. This experience later set the stage for writing his first book, 'Nothin' but a thing', a personal memior about his tour-of-duty with the Marines.

In the years following Vietnam he chose to join the US Army Reserve as a geodetic surveyor; the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a calvary scout and the Air Force Reserve as a Public Affairs writer and editor for the base newspaper. After a two-year stint with Public Affairs he put his medical training back to use when he transfered into the 33rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron and served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991.

He retired from the Air Force as 1st Sergeant in 1999.

Doc Lewis currently resides in the small village of Espyville, PA.
