Sara Benincasa

Sara Benincasa is an author, journalist, comedian and actress. She’s published a memoir, Agorafabulous!: Dispatches From My Bedroom; two novels, Great and D.C. Trip; and a book of essays, Real Artists Have Day Jobs. She’s adapted two of her books for TV/film and has written for Marvel Comics and Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Her essay for the New York Times Magazine, “An Agoraphobe Goes to the Grocery Store,” illustrated by Nata Metlukh, won the American Society of Magazine Editors Award for Best Illustrated Story in 2026. She holds an M.A. in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University and a B.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. Her next book, a biography of Abraham Lincoln, is forthcoming from Grand Central in 2027.
