Daniel P. Smith

Daniel (Dan) Paul Smith is a writer and a practicing tax and business lawyer in the Nashville, Tennessee area. Dan is a summa cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he majored in English and French and was a member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society. He obtained his law degree from the Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was an associate editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. He also has an LL.M. degree (Master of Laws) in Taxation from the New York University School of Law.

Dan is admitted to practice law in Tennessee, where he has practiced for more than thirty years. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. Dan has served as tax counsel on numerous tax-exempt bond issuances, and he has also represented clients in large-dollar IRS audits.

Dan is the author of IRS Income Tax Audits: A Mini-Course in Avoiding, Preparing For, and Getting Through an IRS Income Tax Audit, and is the co-author of the true crime book, Victims of Dead Man Walking.
