After retiring from a long business career there have been a number of interests and activities that filled my days.
My first after retirememt job was in the golf industry at a golf course. This enabled me to play golf anytime I chose.
After this, for the next 18 years It has been as a Master Gardener, a part of the University of California Cooperative Extension. This is a volunteer organization that requires being accepted through application.
The Extension is designed to work with the citizens and organizations in our County with their gardening and horticulture issues. If accepted, it requires annual volunteer hours along with education hours.
During that period there were a great number of super assignments including an award winning radio show called “In the Garden.” This program aired on Public radio through one of the University’s radio station. Also became first President of the organization’s ToastMaster Club, member of the Speakers Bureau and a Certified Square Foot Gardener Trainer. I still do some workshops for the Foundation here in Texas.
My writing started while doing a great number of “Free Lance “ articles for a division of The Wall Street Journal on career subjects.
A few years later writing books became a priority and it has been a very rewarding experience. Believe me, it is a joy to be able to express myself through this medium.
To date I have written thirteen books, all have been highly rated. By the way, with any luck, there are still more to come.
You can get a more detailed account in my memoir book entitled “Stories of an Ordinary Man, Told by an Ordinary Man.”
