Garrison Wells

Garrison Wells is an award-winning writer and journalist, a mongrel and lover of words, martial arts and music.

As a journalist, he worked for newspapers such as The Denver Business Journal, Denver Post, Gazette in Colorado Springs, Nashville Business Journal, Sun-News in Myrtle Beach, Grand Rapids Press and Lansing State Journal in Michigan and the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus, Ga.

He wrote a column, Ramblin' Man, in Colorado.

He has won several writing awards, including the esteemed Morton Margolin Prize from the University of Denver and an American Eagle from the American City Business Journals chain for investigative reporting.

He studied journalism and writing at Vanderbilt and the University of Colorado, Boulder. He studied screenwriting under Dyann Rivkin in Nashville, Tn.

His poetry has been published in magazines and books in Michigan, Colorado and South Carolina. He holds black belts in Goju Ryu, judo, kobudo and jujitsu and has written five books on the martial arts for beginning students.

He has also written three books of poetry, "Drifts" and "madrigal," and "Vampire: A love story," which are on Amazon. His first novel, "Nightgoer," is about Native American spirits and is the first part of a trilogy. Part two is expected in 2017.

His screenplay, "Bradley Indians," is about baseball and a Pottawatomi tribe in Michigan that made it as far as a personal rep for Redford, and a Native American producer. It's being shopped around.

Garrison is married to Laura, a nurse practitioner and singer. His daughter, Ianthe Schaub, lives with her husband Jay in Colorado. He and Laura have two dogs, a Lhasa who rules the house and a Border Collie who just kinda hangs out with them.
