Mr. Joseph T Rector

I've taken on a second career--writer. After 30 years of teaching high school English and retiring in 2008 at the age of 56, I decided the time had come to do my own writing. Since 2003 I've written for newspapers as a columnists and have published several magazine articles. My work has appeared in 8 Chicken Soup books and two Knoxville Writers'Guild anthologies.

Baseball Boys is my first novel. It's fiction with sprinkles of real life added for spice. People who've read the book are captivated, and the best comment from readers is that they couldn't wait to see what happened next. No one expected the end of the book, so I consider it a success.

A couple of new books will be out soon. One is a mystery/crime story, and the other is a memoir about the journey my son and I endured during his years of playing baseball. Another one is in the works as well. It's juvenile literature about a boy who struggles with the harsh life and cruel individuals in middle school.

I'm a Tennessee man who loves the Smoky Mountains, Nashville music scene, and Tennesseee Big Orange football. I hope you'll give Baseball Boys and other coming books a read. Let me know what you think about them all.
