I hold a fondness for my childhood years in the Fifties and seek through writing to bring the era to life - an action-packed, adventuresome life - for my readers. I write stories that would have thrilled me as a teenager growing up in rural northeastern Ohio.
The first novel in the five-book Montooth series begins in Florida's swamps in 1950, and the last will finish around 1962 in Revolutionary Cuba. I introduce the main characters as fourteen-year-olds battling determined criminals in Montooth and the Canfield Witch.
My business degree came from Kent State University in 1967, and I earned an MBA from the University of Indianapolis. As a twenty-four year international banker, the highlight was presiding over the 135-branch U.S. Military Banking system in West Germany, the Netherlands, and Greece during the tumultuous years immediately before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
In 1992, I changed careers and location, taking over as president of a national highway safety company headquartered in Florida. That move opened my mind in new ways and lead to developing a number of patents for roadway safety devices.
My wife of over thirty-five years, Hildegard, and I reside on a Gulf of Mexico island south of St. Petersburg, Florida, where we entertain a growing group of grandchildren as often as possible. I am looking forward to when they are old enough to read the signature fables embedded within each of the Montooth novels.
