Richard Halverson is a professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Rich's research bring the ideas and practices of cognitive psychology, computer science and human-computer interaction to the world of educational leadership and interactive media.
He is a co-founder of the UW-Madison Games, Learning and Society Research Center, holds affiliate appointments in UW-Madison Departments of Educational Psychology and Curriculum and Instruction Departments, and is a Fellow at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
His current work involves the development of an on-line, 360-degree formative assessment system for school leadership and new forms of evidence-based assessment for video games.
He is a former high school teacher and administrator, and earned an MA in Philosophy and a PhD in the Learning Sciences from Northwestern University. He is co-author (with Allan Collins) of Rethinking Education in the Age of Technology: The Digital Revolution and Schooling in America.
