Dr. Cliff Thomas’ perspectives on healthy eating and nutrition comes not because he is an M.D., but from the experiences he has had after more than 30 years as an M.D.. Dr. Thomas was mentored at an early age by an uncle that was an amazing healer. Although his uncle was an excellent surgeon he knew that many times a patient did not require a surgery, a shot, or a pill. They just needed someone to listen and understand. Throughout medical school, residency, and private practice the gastrointestinal tract function and malfunction drew Dr. Thomas’ most passionate attention. However throughout those years he had a wide range of experience including trauma, pediatric surgery, and major burns. These experiences taught Dr. Thomas about nutrition and how the body responds to nutrition giving him a unique perspective. As Dr. Thomas’ practice narrowed to surgery to promote weight loss he began to more fully understand what his uncle taught him - that the patients often needed more than a pill, a diet, or a surgery. Dr. Thomas would see patients one-on-one listening to the challenges of merging their day-to-day habits with new eating habits. This understanding evolved way beyond “one diet fits all”. Dr. Thomas credits the thousands of patients that he has seen one-on-one as teaching him how to share game changing perspectives on eating healthy, nutrition, weight loss, and how to change eating habits.
